1“Do not judge others, so that God will not judge you, 2 for God will judge you in the same way you judge others, and he will apply to you the same rules you apply to others. 3Why, then, do you look at the speck in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the log in your own eye? 4How dare you say to your brother, ‘Please, let me take that speck out of your eye,’ when you have a log in your own eye? 5You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will be able to see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
6“Do not give what is holy to dogs—they will only turn and attack you. Do not throw your pearls in front of pigs—they will only trample them underfoot.
37“Do not judge others, and God will not judge you; do not condemn others, and God will not condemn you; forgive others, and God will forgive you. 38Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands—all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you.”
39 And Jesus told them this parable: “One blind man cannot lead another one; if he does, both will fall into a ditch. 40 No pupils are greater than their teacher; but all pupils, when they have completed their training, will be like their teacher.
41“Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but pay no attention to the log in your own eye? 42How can you say to your brother, ‘Please, brother, let me take that speck out of your eye,’ yet cannot even see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will be able to see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
Matthew 7:1-6 means Christians should avoid hypocritical, harsh judgment, focusing instead on self-examination ("log in your own eye") before offering correction, which should be done with love and discernment, not condemnation, recognizing everyone needs mercy and God's grace for their own faults. Jesus teaches to address your own sin first, then help others with humility and wisdom, not by treating sacred things (like the Gospel) or people with contempt ("dogs," "swine").

Discernment vs Condemnation:
Application:

Luke 6:37-42 teaches that believers should not be hypercritical or condemnatory of others, but rather extend mercy, forgiveness, and generosity, because the same measure (of judgment, condemnation, or kindness) they give to others will be given back to them by God.
